MEW was delighted to work with the Wales Centre for Public Policy to run their first listening event as part of the What Works Centre Impact project funded by ESRC (project website: https://lnkd.in/eXrWsSgE).

Facilitated by Steph Waddell, the event brought local decision makers together with What Works Centres and other knowledge brokers in a lively and rich discussion about using and navigating evidence.

Speakers from local government, combined authorities and HDRCs spoke about organisational culture and values, about what counts as evidence and what evidence is valued, as well as capacity and skills to engage with evidence.  The key takeaway for knowledge brokers and academics? Be ready to sit in the messiness of day to day decision making and be comfortable with the push and pull of different sources of evidence and knowledge.
