Making Evidence Work are delighted to extend their work with Nesta to support local authorities to create Best Start in Life local plans.

Nesta is offering resources, guidance and opportunities for conection to support local authorities in delivering high-quality, strategic plans and improving children’s developmental outcomes.

As part of this offer Making Evidence Work have been commissioned by Nesta to make 1:1 coaching available to every local authority in England and access to bespoke advice from a team of associates and topic specialists.  The coaching is intended to help local leaders to sense check their approach to BSiL planning, explore ideas and issues, and identify practical solutions to support local planning.

The BSiL coaching team, led by Ben Lewing, Director at Making Evidence Work, includes four associate coaches with extensive experience in planning and delivering support for families in the early years.

Local authorities are also being offered time with specialists on topics such as ECEC, neighbourhood health, parenting and the Home Learning Environment, and suport for children with special educational needs and disabilities, information governance, impact measurement and working with the Impact Economy.

Ben Lewing commented “The national Best Start Strategy is very welcome, but the demands of quickly turning this into ambitious and deliverable local plans is challenging.  Nesta’s offer of support for local authorities is proving a big hit, and, alongside the support offered by the National Centre for Family Hubs, should really help local leaders to produce high quality plans.  Demand is high for 1:1 coaching and we have assembled a brilliant team of early years experts to deliver this – we are ready to go!
